  • Author: Sarah
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 16 servings 1x

Description

A quick and easy weeknight dinner featuring savory sausage, sharp cheddar cheese, and fluffy biscuits baked into handheld sliders. Perfect for busy families and ready in about 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tubes (16.3 oz each) refrigerated classic round biscuit dough
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage links (pork with sage or fennel)
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 12 tablespoons hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot or Tabasco)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: 1 cup hash browns (frozen or fresh)
  • Optional: 2 stalks green onions, chopped
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons maple syrup mixed with 1 tablespoon butter for glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage and diced onion for 5-7 minutes until sausage is browned and onions are translucent. Drain excess grease.
  3. Separate the biscuit dough into 16 biscuits and press them slightly flat.
  4. Arrange the biscuits in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Place a spoonful of the sausage and onion mixture on the bottom half of each biscuit, followed by a generous handful of shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Top with the remaining biscuit halves and press down gently to seal.
  7. Whisk the egg with a tablespoon of water and brush the tops of the sliders. Drizzle with melted butter.
  8. Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
  9. While baking, mix hot sauce and maple syrup (if using). Drizzle over baked sliders and sprinkle with green onions before serving.

Notes

Use sharp cheddar for better flavor and melt. Ensure you drain the sausage grease to prevent soggy biscuits. For make-ahead, assemble the night before and refrigerate, adding 5 minutes to bake time. Can be frozen after baking for up to 3 months.
