Strawberry Watermelon Agua Fresca

  • Author: Sarah
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Description

A refreshing, hydrating summer drink made by blending fresh watermelon and strawberries with lime juice and a hint of salt. This no-cook recipe is customizable, gluten-free, and perfect for hot days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cubed watermelon (seedless preferred)
  • 2 cups hulled strawberries
  • 23 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 24 tablespoons white sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 23 cups cold water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves (optional)
  • 1/4 jalapeño pepper, seeded (optional)
  • Ice for serving

Instructions

  1. Prep the fruit by cutting the watermelon into chunks and hulling the strawberries.
  2. Add watermelon, strawberries, lime juice, sugar, salt, and 2 cups of water to a high-speed blender.
  3. Blend on high for 30-60 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth.
  4. Place a fine-mesh strainer over a large pitcher or bowl and pour the blended mixture through it.
  5. Press down on the seeds and pulp with a spoon to extract all the juice, then discard the solids.
  6. Taste the strained liquid and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar, lime, or water as needed.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes if time permits.
  8. Serve over ice, garnished with a strawberry slice or mint sprig.

Notes

Chill the fruit and pitcher beforehand for a colder drink. Use frozen strawberries if fresh ones are not available; do not thaw them first. The pinch of salt enhances the fruit flavor without making it taste salty. Adjust sugar based on the natural sweetness of the watermelon.
