Description
A quick, homemade iced latte that tastes better than coffee shop versions. This recipe uses simple ingredients like brown sugar, cinnamon, and strong coffee to create a customizable, cost-effective morning ritual.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (dark or light)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup (240ml) strong brewed coffee or espresso
- 1 cup (240ml) milk (whole, oat, almond, or soy)
- Ice cubes (large preferred)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Brew 1 cup of strong coffee or espresso using a drip maker or espresso machine.
- In a mug, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Add a splash (about 2 tablespoons) of the hot coffee to the sugar mixture and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved and smooth.
- Pour the rest of the hot coffee into the mug and stir to combine.
- Fill a glass with ice cubes.
- Pour the milk over the ice. Froth the milk if desired for a creamier texture.
- Pour the coffee mixture over the milk and ice.
- Stir gently to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness or spice level if needed.
- Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired, then serve immediately.
Notes
Dissolve the brown sugar properly in the hot coffee to avoid grittiness. Use strong coffee or espresso to prevent the drink from becoming watery when ice is added. Large ice cubes melt slower and keep the drink cold longer. You can pre-mix the brown sugar and cinnamon for faster morning preparation.
