Description
A soothing, aromatic tea latte made with Earl Grey, honey, and culinary lavender. This 5-minute recipe offers a calming alternative to coffee with a creamy, floral flavor profile.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 Earl Grey tea bags or 1 tablespoon loose leaf Earl Grey tea
- 1 cup (240ml) fresh cold water
- 1 teaspoon dried culinary lavender
- 1–2 tablespoons raw honey
- 1 cup (240ml) milk (whole, oat, almond, or coconut)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Whipped cream for topping (optional)
- Dried lavender sprig for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Boil water and let it sit for 30 seconds to cool slightly to avoid scorching the tea.
- Pour hot water over the tea bags (or loose leaf tea with lavender in an infuser) in a mug. Steep for 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the tea bag or infuser. While the tea is still hot, add honey and vanilla extract (if using). Stir vigorously until the honey is completely dissolved.
- Pour milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until hot but not boiling (aim for 150-160°F or 65-70°C).
- Froth the hot milk using a handheld frother, whisk, or by shaking in a jar until creamy and foamy.
- Pour the frothed milk over the sweetened tea, holding back the foam with a spoon, then spoon the foam on top.
- Garnish with a sprig of dried lavender or a dusting of lavender buds. Serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure you use culinary-grade lavender, not potpourri, as potpourri may contain chemicals. Do not boil the milk, as it can become grainy and lose sweetness. Add honey to the hot tea, not the cold milk, to ensure it dissolves properly. Less lavender is more; too much can taste soapy.
